The Covid-19 pandemic hit all of us hard and changed the way we interact with each other and the events that we have. Schools have closed which means all seniors have had their last day of school before they even knew it. The seniors of Flagler county feel like we have been abandoned and that the current plan isn’t genuine and won’t be memorable for the seniors. We want to have this last celebration before moving in with our lives. For many of us this is the last thing we’ll get to do. We appreciate the work that has gone into the speedway idea but I think I speak for all of us when I say that we would appreciate a in person graduation more. We worked for 12 years to get to this point and it feels like we’re just being blown off. Many of us would like the option to have a real graduation in June or July. The state of Florida is slowly opening back up starting this Monday, May 3rd so we believe that it is within reason to assume that we’ll be able to have an in person graduation. Even if it’s at our school with a limited amount of people. We never got the chance to say goodbye to our teachers and classmates and if we continue with this speedway idea then we never will. Please hear us out, we just want to have a graduation. Considering the circumstances I understand the concern and we thank you for all that you guys do! But please, let us have a real graduation. Thank you.
