Reconsider their punishment and rehire lifeguard Tomas Lopez
This petition had 83 supporters
Lifeguard Tomas Lopez was fired from his employment by Jeff Ellis and Associates, because he left his patrol area on Hallandale Beach Florida to try to save a drowning swimmer in an unprotected area of the beach. The company fired him for breaking company rules, claiming he endangered swimmers in his area by leaving. We the signers of this petition agree that some sort of disciplinary action such as a short suspension or fine is reasonable punishment, but firing and loss of his job is too severe and not a justifiable punishment.
