Giada Combusti started this petition to Jeff Bezos (CEO, Amazon.com) and

China has detained over a million Uighurs at over 340 camps in the north-west region of Xinjiang, where credible allegations of torture, forced labour and sexual abuse have emerged. The European Union, UK, US and Canada introduced sanctions including travel bans and asset freezes, targeting senior officials in Xinjiang who have been accused of serious human rights violations against ethnic Uighur.

It is not enough and I don't want to buy any goods from a country where the Government sanctions genocide. It ought to be a basic right that consumers know where goods come from but such information is not available on the Amazon website (at least in the EU) which is the worlds largest retailer. Adopting such good trade practice does not cost anything and in this globalised worlds where people want to make choices for a better world, publishing country of origin information is simply a no brainer.

By hiding the country of origin a retailer is essentially forcing consumers to buy goods from states which are involved in genocide and human rights abuses. As consumers we should have the right to know where the goods are from and to able to exercise freedom of choice if we want to. Amazon is now more powerful than governments, and we the people have given it its' power: the least we can expect is transparency in description of products.

We want Amazon to include Country of Origin / Production in their description of goods.
