Get Otto home

Our Father Otto Vidmajer has been diagnosed with late stage cancer in May this year. We as a family had received the conversation that no family ever wants to receive. The cancer is inoperable and no treatment will resolve the diagnosis and you should make the most of the time with your Dad.

As anyone would do in this situation, Otto has sought alternative treatment to try and rid himself of this terrible disease. Unfortunately, this meant that he had to travel to Italy. After two months of treatment we have had to subscribe that the challenge was too great and the treatment was not going to provide the answer he has been looking for and decided to make the journey home.

Given the current pandemic we have found this to be the greatest challenge yet. The QLD government has placed restrictions on the amount of passengers returning to Brisbane to 30 passengers per flight. We received no notification of the restrictions until Otto presented himself to the check in terminal. The advice we have been given is that he may not be granted a spot on that list till October at the earliest. We fear that this delay will be a bridge too far. Whilst he is able to travel as of today, his condition is deteriorating rapidly and this window may close. The QLD government has the power to accommodate Otto's return, all they need to do is grant two extra places on that flight to accommodate Otto and his wife. To this date we are getting no support from our government or the airlines. Please sign the petition to help our cause!!
