Aniket Umaria started this petition to Jayshreeben Mehta (President of the Medical Council of India) and

Currently the upper age limit for eligibility to appear for NEET / AIPVT medical entrance test is set to 25 years of age.

In the current scenario citizens of India who aspired to be doctors or veterinary doctors but could not pursue the required education for personal / financial / or any other reason before turning 30 will simply never be able to become doctors. Admission to a course should be made purely on merit and not on the basis of age. Moreover, NEET is now mandatory for application to medical courses abroad too. This is gross discrimination on the basis of age.  If doctors are allowed to practice above the age of 40 then why should aspirants above the age of 30 be barred from even appearing for the entrance tests and being considered for the course based on merit.

The argument that older students get more time to prepare is ridiculous. It is a personal decision that they chose to give those years of their lives for preparation. Also, there will be many who previously worked in a different profession or simply weren't in a position to consider studying further.

Right to education is a constitutional right. There should be no bias and discrimination on the basis of age.

There should be no upper age limit to appear for NEET / AIPVT.
