Put a max limit on rent based off wage.

Put a max limit on rent based off wage.
It’s about to be 2022. With 2 years into the pandemic people and communities are facing financial issues. With losing their jobs and unemployment, people were unable to pay rent. Now with the vaccine mandate, more people are losing their jobs. Finding ways to pay rent is going to be an issue. Multiple people in my community and in Washington state, have had to move because of rent increases. People telling their stories of their rent being increased by $200-$800 extra each month. How are property companies able to demand such a dramatic increase during a pandemic?
Washington state already has a homeless issue as is. Increasing rent to an obscene amount will not only add to the homeless issue, but it will increase people debt problem as well. Property management companies are forcing residents to put all their extra money into keeping a roof over their head, nobody is going to be paying their credit card bills, car payments, student loans, and any other bills they feel can be held off. Jobs are paying very minimal and makes single people in a very difficult position to stay living independently. People are being forced to move back in with family or obtain a roommate. This can cause more drama and violence in the communities.
we need to create a balance with rent. There needs to be a max put in place for how much you can charge for specific properties. There also needs to be a max on how much you can increase ones rent based of the number of occupants living in each unit. Rent should be based on the states minimum wage and the persons income. At this point properties are just being greedy and this is not the type of stress Washington residents need. There has to be something done with this rent crisis.
