Children shouldn't have to wear a mask while at a child care facility.  Children who attend facilities that have stayed open during COVID and have implemented safety measure to create a clean and safe environment and classroom bubbles shouldn't be forced to wear a face mask all day.  Children rely on facial cues and expressions to navigate their day and to hear each other.  Children with sensory processing and autism will not be able to cope correctly with a mask on their face.  Older children in child care facilities are already stressed with adults wearing masks and the overall pandemic.  This has resulted in many behavior problems in classrooms with older children.  The short and long- term effects of wearing a mask for most of their day is incalculable.  Centers that have provided a safe place were no cases of COVID have been reported, should be allowed to continue going to child care without the stress of a face mask.

Children also get dirty.  Child care is dirty, which is why they clean all the time.  There's dirt, painting, water activities, eating, etc.  They will likely not be able to keep their face mask clean all day and will likely play with it as well.  It is unfair to further tax teachers with policing this when they already have too much to do and are underappreciated for it.

Children shouldn't be expected to act like adults during this pandemic when they are at a place that supposed to develop their curiosity as a child.  Let's say no to required face masks for children 2-12 in child care facilities.
