BRIAN WILEY started this petition to Governor Janet Mills and

Governor Mill's new plan to open the state has fueled the animosity that already existed between Maine residents and out of state visitors. The plan does more to facilitate fear and hatred than to reduce risk. Why not allow people, who have been tested (either negative COVID or positive Antibody) to travel freely, without a 14 day quarantine? The highest risk is most likely related to the essential workers travelling back and forth (which should NOT be restricted), not the people looking to use their homes and operate their businesses which exist in Maine. This is also true for people who want to spend their time under the stay at home rules in Maine. The messages behind the new policy are that the Governor trusts Maine residents but not any other Americans and that the people of Maine should fear outsiders. In reality, the percentage of Maine residents not abiding by the rules is likely no different than any other state. Businesses and homeowner access should be restricted based on risk not based on your state of residence. The 14 day quarantine effectively closes off access to out of state business owners, homeowners and others, simply based on their mailing address. Please sign this petition if you believe anyone with a negative test for COVID or positive antibody test, should not have to quarantine for 14 days. I believe even this is unfair but it would be a very reasonable middle ground to reach.
