I respectfully request you re-examine the school bus transport system, in particular in situations where families with medical cards are being refused a bus seat for their child.

This petition highlights anomalies that are the thin end of the wedge with regard to the dismantlement of the school bus transport scheme in Ireland.
If ill-thought out legislation which victimises low income families is allowed to progress unchallenged it will undoubtedly be repeated again in other areas.
I started this petition because my daughter has been refused a seat on a school bus because another school is deemed closer (The closer school is full and not in a position to take on any more pupils). The school bus in question passes our house everyday during the school terms. I have friends whose children are already on the bus with their medical cards that have been told to pay up or change schools. This is wrong and unfair.
The school transport appeals board only meet once a month. This is not good enough.
This petition can make a differnece because there is strength in numbers.
