Bullying is a growing issue in our elementary and high schools. Bullying can be defined as “unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time” (Stop Bullying, 2019).  Did you know that with the increasing use of technology at school, cyberbullying is on the rise. “The most common form of cyber-bullying involved receiving threatening or aggressive emails or instant messages, reported by 73% of victims.”(Canadian Bullying Statistics)

Every child deserves the right to go to school everyday and to be safe in their learning environment however, being bullied can cause children and youth to feel anxious, depressed, humiliated, threatened and afraid. Bullying in schools has been on the rise and it should be considered a major civic issue in Canada because it affects many children and educational staff every day.

We need to speak up for the victims of bullies in schools.  We can start by contacting our school boards, our City Councillor, and Community Police Services.  Let's start making a change by signing a petition to show our support for the victims of bullying in schools.  We need to start with an anti-bullying campaign and we need support from our government and community partners.

Let's make our voices heard and show the victims of school bullying that we care about making a difference and that we are here to support them.  Together we can make the change we and many others have been waiting for.  Please take the time to sign this petition to show your support to those who have been suffering in silence and to help stop school bullying once and for all.
