I am petitioning for more local dog parks in the Jamestown area. There is an estimated 29,591 residents in Jamestown NY and 15,000 households in Jamestown, with a rough estimate of 5,400 being dog owners. That is 36% of households in Jamestown NY. An estimated 60.2 million homes in the United States have dogs. With the increase in dog ownership there has become the need for more dog friendly activities. A dog park would be a huge benefit for the dog owners and residents of Jamestown NY. Besides the recreational aspect of dog parks, it would also benefit Jamestown's residence in the following ways: a decrease in dogs barking, a decrease in dogs at large, a decrease in destructive canine behavior, an increase in the sense of community, and an increase in socialization for both dog and owner. Dogs would likely be better exercised leading to less barking, running away, and being destructive. They would also be more socialized which would give a better chance for positive interactions in the public. In addition, the increase in tourism to the area will also bring touring pets. I believe that tourists would enjoy a visit to Jamestown more, with their pets, if there were places the pets could go and enjoy as well, giving it the potential for tourist to see more of Jamestown's wonderful parks. Jamestown is, after all, an award winning city of trees. This would be a great way to show revitalization with in our community. I am a born and raised resident  and now home and business owner in Jamestown NY, I am also a dog owner and dog obedience trainer and I would love to see more dog parks for my fellow neighbors and their dogs. 

Some suggested prospective areas for a dog park include  Allen Park near the Allen park Ice Rink and Bergman Park near Orr street.
