We are all facing a difficult time during COVID-19 remote learning and I hope everyone is doing the best they can despite the unfortunate circumstances. However, the call to cancel VCE exams entirely is unfair to the students who have been working extremely hard for years of schooling to achieve their goals of getting a study score and an ATAR they are proud of. I believe exams should be made OPTIONAL rather than cancelled, in which students who choose not to do exams may go unscored or receive a derived score.

We have endured 13 years of schooling and only have a few months left. It isn't the way we hoped it would be but we have to persevere and support each other. For students who did accelerated subjects last year, for students who have been studying hard all year and for students who are supportive of their peers acedemic goals PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO MAKE EXAMS OPTIONAL AND KEEP THE ATAR! Exams and the ATAR are important to a lot of students and many are anxious that they won't be able to complete them - please do not take this away from the students who still want it. Additionally, exams are the only effective way to standardise scores across the state and I think we can all agree that the GAT is not very reliable for standardising scores, (most of us don't even understand 95% of the words used in the GAT without a dictionairy so what does that tell you lol) hence, using our SAC and GAT scores will ruin our ATARs way worse than the exams could. And remember for schools with harder SACs and for kids who didn't perform as well in SACs, exams could be your saving grace to scale up your scores! Stay safe, stay healthy, support each other, ask for help and STUDY HARD we are so close to the finish line - don't let your hard work go to waste!!
