James Merlino NEEDS to make bullying more recognized in schools

We are petitioning James Merlino, The Education Minister for Australia. Merliono needs to make stricter rules and laws with regard to the tolerance of bullying. We believe that the issue of bullying in primary school and high school isn't addressed to the level that should be.

Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. The tolerance of bullying breeches the regulations of this human right. We are asking to keep the 4,400 of lives that are targeted and chosen to take their own lives from bullying, imagine your child coming home one day after being bullied under the roof of your educative systems.

Peers are present in 87% of bullying interactions, mostly as onlookers who do nothing to help the victim. The bystanders mostly do nothing about the interactions because they aren't taught or they don’t know what to do when confronted in those situation. Most school react accordingly with the ' no bully' rule but where does that stop? Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Bullying is intentional cruelty.
