Public health decisions are based on careful analysis of risk vs benefit and current available evidence. Considering the low risk of transmission of Covid amongst children, the low number of positive cases and importantly the low positive rate to numbers tested in Victoria , it is clear that the risk of damage to our children’s education and physical and mental well being far outweighs the risk of a Covid spike in the context of the known epidemiology. Dan Merlino, Martin Foley and Brett Sutton need to allow children to return to school from Monday. This should not be about politics but our children’s health and well-being!
