Access to Contraceptives on Saint Mary's College of California's campus

Due to its Catholic roots, Saint Mary's College of CA does not provide free condoms nor other forms of contraception on campus. Also, the bookstore does not sell or provide condoms either, making it necessary for students to travel off campus to purchase birth control and or condoms.
Many Brothers who live on campus and are the foundation of the SMC community, believe the offering of free condoms or condoms in general will encourage students to participate in sexual activity.
Did you know that according to SMC’s health and wellness center records, over 60% of students on campus are sexually active?
Yet, SMC prohibits the supply free condoms or other forms of contraception on campus. Therefore, students must travel off campus and use their own money to buy and obtain various forms of contraception.
Doctors regularly see students for sexual health needs, including STD prevention, testing, diagnosis and treatment, family planning, contraception needs/questions/concerns, pregnancy tests, and basic sexual health education.
It is our mission to educate students on the policy in hope for change in the future. Follow our page for more information & to fight against this issue
Free condoms should not be a question. We must fight to protect our community from STI’s and unwanted pregnancy.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU THINK FREE AND OR SOLD CONDOMS SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE ON SAINT MARY'S CAMPUS.
We appreciate you taking the time!
