Robb Cilek started this petition to James Dolan and

James Dolan's nonsense has gone on long enough. It's time for the Governor of the Knicks to sell the team, which would be in the best interests of Knicks fans, and basketball fans worldwide. This winter, the team traded it's franchise centerpiece in Kristaps Porzingis, in exchange for some young pieces, and DeAndre Jordan (more on him in a second). The main reason the trade was made was to clear cap space to target big-name free agents such as Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving. DeAndre Jordan is good friends with both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and he was added to the trade in an effort to help recruit Durant and/or Irving. As many basketball fans are aware of, Kevin Durant suffered a torn Achilles while playing for the Warriors in the NBA Finals. While the injury would force him to miss the entire 2019-20 season, Durant is conducting his rehab out of New York City, which would only help his chances to sign with New York team (Knicks or Nets). The Nets had enough cap space for two maximum contracts. So did the Knicks. The Knicks however, weren't willing to offer Durant a maximum contract due to the injury, which essentially took them out of the running for Durant, which also eliminated them from landing Kyrie Irving as well. Instead, both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving agreed to maximum contracts with the Brooklyn Nets, who also ended up signing the same guy who was supposed to help recruit Irving and Durant to Madison Square Garden: DeAndre Jordan. "bUt We SiGnEd JuLiUs RaNdLe" --James Dolan, probably.

This year was the first in a long time that Knicks fans didn't boo their first-round draft choice. The following list are some examples of Knicks draft picks they passed up on, and who they actually drafted.

2007: Knicks draft Wilson Chandler (Marc Gasol was still available)

2009: Knicks draft Jordan Hill (DeMar DeRozan, Jrue Holiday, and Jeff Teague were all still available)

2011: Knicks trade first-round pick to Jazz who draft Gordon Hayward

2013: Knicks draft Tim Hardaway Jr. (Rudy Gobert was still available)

2015: Knicks draft Kristaps Porzingis (booed on draft night; wasn't horrible until his injury, but Devin Booker, Terry Rozier, Kevon Looney were all still available)

2017: Knicks draft Frank Ntilikina (Dennis Smith Jr.*, Donovan Mitchell, and Kyle Kuzma were all still available)

*=Smith was traded to NY in the Porzingis deal

2018: Knicks draft Kevin Knox (still too early to tell, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Miles Bridges were both still available).

2019: Knicks draft R.J. Barrett after losing out on Zion Williamson (which was actually a good pick for once [good job Dolan you did something right]).

Mind you, most of these draft choices were made under Phil Jackson, but James Dolan hired him so the blame goes back to Dolan. New GM Scott Perry has done a solid job during his time so far in New York, and it's not his fault that his boss has no clue what he's doing.

Another issue with Dolan is the fact that he banned a Knicks fan from Madison Square Garden for life after the fan simply yelled "Sell the Team" towards Dolan. Dolan confronted the fan and said "keep your opinions to yourself". That fan was telling Dolan the truth and Dolan couldn't handle the truth.

Many celebrity Knicks fans including ESPN's Stephen A. Smith have all called for Dolan to sell his team, but clearly Dolan has refused. If a lot of people sign this petition, it could be the driving force to convince Dolan to do the right thing.
