For 2 years Isabella Jalili has pleaded her parents for Snapchat. Today on September 3rd her mother was finally and rightfully convinced to allow Jalili to get Snapchat. The only problem left was her father, who remained stagnant with his answer; a firm no.

     One of the many reasons Jalili should be allowed to get Snapchat are as follows:

- If you want Jalili to ever find love or a significant other, Snapchat is very helpful. All of dating this age is started by “What’s your snap?”, or “Hi can I get your snap?”. With cause and effect, not having Snapchat now can make Jalili miss out on creating these important bonds with other people, and furthermore some people even end marrying their high school sweethearts. The effect could be Jalili never getting married and never having kids. One small hiccup can snowball into this large issue.

-  The main issue directly from Jalili’s parents are how easy it is to delete messages/snaps. Refuting this is simple, you can delete messages on IMS messages, Instagram DM’s, Discord DM’s, etc. Saying it’s easy to hide stuff with Snapchat, is hypocritical as you can do it with any other app. The parent also followed up with no evidence. It’s plain and obvious this is a weak reason and it’s clear they simply do not have a reason, they just make one up.

- The most important issue can only be summed up with a quote “I will be a loser,” direct words from Isabella Jalili. Arguably the biggest challenge in high school is not being labeled a loser off the bat. With only being 3 weeks into high school not having Snapchat can change your reputation like that. Fundamentally this can change an entire high school life. Socially it will have effects, mainly negative. Knowing this could hinder your kids social life is something that should be taken to heart and deeply considered.

- Out with the old and in with the new, no one uses messages anymore. The new generation uses Snapchat as a more current way of communicating.
