The Zane Campaign / Saving lives through organ donation

Just under three weeks ago, my 3-year-old nephew, Zane ran out in front of a van and was ran over. He was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit at Westmead Children’s Hospital and 10 days later my sister and brother in law had to make the hard decision to turn his life machine off.
Zane was brain dead and would have had no quality of life. When they made the decision to turn the machine off my sister mentioned she wanted to organ donate my nephew's organs. In doing so, she would not be able to pick the time my nephew's life support machine would be turned off, it was up to the hospital and could not be in peak hour traffic. Not only that but they would only be allowed to be with him for two minutes once he had passed and he would then need to go into surgery.
My sister said there was no choice, if she could save other children’s lives than it was worth it. The precious little time she had with him, it was worth having less to save the lives of others. My nephew saved a 5-year-old boy with his lungs, a young adolescent man with his kidney and a 5-month-old baby with his kidney. His heart valve with go to two children next month.
Then in their darkest hour, they are still being selfless and thinking of others, they decided they wanted to give back to the PICU unit at Westmead and started a Go Fund Me Page raising money for the hospital. The unit needed 20k to reach their fundraising goal to buy new equipment. My sister was adamant she would raise it for them. In less than a week they have raised almost 50k. Now they want to raise awareness on organ donations.
At the moment if I am put down as an organ donor, when I die my family can contest this. If the choice was left to the person who had passed there would not be a waiting list for organ donors. Thousands of Australians die unnecessarily. We want to change the law so the choice is up to the individual, not their family.
Please sign this petition to make the decision yours, not your families.
