Petitioning Mayor Latham Jacksonville Beach

Establish an off-leash dog beach in Northeast Florida

Northeast Florida is home to some of really awesome beaches — but there are no spots on the beach where your dogs can run off-leash (and few spots where they can even be on-leash). This needs to change. Dog lovers of Northeast Florida, unite! All we need is a 1-mile or so stretch of beach where dogs and their responsible humans can run and play and swim together, and some bags and trashcans for waste. See? Not that hard. There would be rules, of course: Handlers have to be able to control their dogs, and are liable for damage or injury. Use the beach at your own risk. No aggressive dogs or dogs in heat, etc. It’s been done elsewhere: St. Pete has Fort De Soto Park. Why can’t we have something similar here? End human tyranny of the beaches now! Sign my petition and let’s send a message that our furry children want some ocean time, too.
