Change the Jackson School District's Dress Code Regarding Shoulders

The Jackson School District sets a dress code to limit the freedoms every student is granted involving their clothing choices. Every spring, I dread the morning that I will be called out for what I am wearing. I find it embarrassing and degrading when told to cover up my shoulders, or to, "find a way to make those shorts longer,". I have always tried my best to respect the school dress code, but I find myself questioning the school's policy on showing shoulders. The dress code is supposed to help maintain a safe learning environment. A student showing their shoulders does not disrupt the learning environment in any way, nor does it make it less safe. Shoulders are not a promiscuous or distracting part of the body. On behalf of all the students who attend Jackson Liberty, and want to wear appropriate clothing that reveals their shoulders, I ask the Jackson School District to reconsider their policy on exposed shoulders.
