Petitioning Jackson county DA's office

To present my daughter's case to a grand jury.

My daughter, Emma Lynn Brandt, was 6 months and 3 weeks old the last morning I saw her smile. She was perfectly healthy, the pediatrician gave her an A+ the week before. She was a fantastic baby who was very much loved by her family. On December 8th, 2010 I took my two kids to a very trusted daycare provider and I was only able to bring one home. I received a call that my daughter had fallen from a couch and was being taken to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital my daughter was in critical condition and needed emergency brain surgery. She survived the surgery but we still weren't sure. We were then flown to a bigger hospital where they told me my daughter had been severely shaken. I later found out that she also had a previous injury on her brain that made things complicated. The neurosurgeon also said that even with the previous injury it still took significant force to cause that damage to my baby girl. My angel passed away on December 11, 2010. The worst day of my life. The DA didn't feel like there was enough evidence to proceed and never pressed charges even though the day care provider admitted to shaking my baby after her supposed fall from the couch, she thinks it couldn't have been that hard. ANY SHAKING NO MATTER THE AMOUNT IS TOO MUCH!!! The death certificate even said they couldn't rule out non-accidental trauma and the cause of death was severe blunt head trauma. There is a new DA being elected and I'm hoping to make her see that this case deserves more attention than given before. Please help us in the fight to justice in showing the DA we have people standing behind us.
