Ensure new Sth Brisbane school is placed adjacent to residential growth where it's needed

The West End/South Brisbane peninsular has seen unprecedented growth in recent years and this looks to continue with the population of the area set to triple in the next 13 years.
The QLD government announced a new inner south high school in June, welcome news to the community who want to see state education available to all local children, despite major overcrowding issues in the current high school.
Unfortunately the government is considering options for the school well outside of the main area of future residential growth. This growth is slated to occur in the Kurilpa area and further along Montague Road. Placing the school outside this area is a decision that will not solve the shortfall in state education placements in the catchment and will lead to tens of millions of wasted tax-payer dollars.
With an impending election it is time the entire community, those with school aged children, those who care about no net-loss of local green-space to accommodate a school, and those who just care about unfettered growth in the area and the Governments obligation to provide appropriate infrastructure, have their say about where the school goes.
If you too believe the Government should be investing in a new high school where current and future population growth is at a peak to ensure every child has access to a state education in the catchment please sign this petition and please send it onto other local friends and family to do the same.
Let’s let Kate Jones, Jackie Trad, and all other hopeful local members, know that as a community we want to see wise, future-proofed, and transparent decisions for education in our neighborhoods.
