Coming from South Africa to live a better life, I have been in NZ for 10 years now and have been robbed 3 times with absolutely no justification done. The thievery in NZ has shot up. We have seen the burglaries in broad daylight of thieves robbing Michael Hill. THIS IS NOT OK FOR A FIRST WORLD COUNTRY WITH ONLY 5 MILLION PEOPLE. 

I have just ordered something 2 weeks ago, saw my mailbox was opened and found it odd. Next, a guy comes knocking at my door at around 7 pm asking me if I am the recipient on the torn and emptied package. To which I respond yes. He then replies by saying that his yard is full of opened up and emptied packages that were just dumped and said that the entire street that I live in had its packages stolen and opened and its about the 3rd time this has happened to him where random and opened up mail has been discarded onto his property. 

We, as NZ residents and Citizens, shouldn't have to live in fear of our possessions and personal property being broken into and stolen. I live in a newly developed area in West Auckland. There needs to be a heavier punishment for thieves who thinks its ok to  just take what ever the hell they want. Prison sentencing and fines are not a threat to these thieves. In other countries, thieves would be either thrown in jail for a minimum of 40 years, get a lethal injection,  and even life in prison. 

The safety of New Zealanders are not up to standard. I have seen police in the western area more frequently and that should be looked at because clearly there's more criminal activity going on which means these criminals do not fear the punishment that NZ has set out for them. 

IF WE WANT TO ERRADICATE THIS ISSUE,THEN WE NEED TO GO HARD AND SEVERLY PUNISH THOSE WHO COMMIT THESE CRIMES. IM SICK OF THIS. ACT NOW SO WE CAN HAVE A BETTER AND SAFER FUTURE IN NEW ZEALAND.
