I want to change the status of The Waitakere Ranges from a Regional Park to a National Park so that the Public can regain access,  and so that the land can never be developed.

This change in the status from Regional Park to a National Park is designed to take control of the Waitakere Ranges away from The Auckland Council who  are using "Kauri Dieback" as a way of scaring the Public out of the Regional Park.

If the Waitakere Ranges continues to be off limits to the Public it will only take a decade or two  and a big fire  before the Council claims this land for future development.

If you look at the development of Auckland over the last ten years the Auckland Council have gone as far East, South and North as they possibly can however in West Auckland the Waitakere ranges is in the way of future development.

The change of status is required to preserve the beauty that is the Waitaks for kiwis young old and those still to be born.
