Affordable Cochlear Implant Batteries

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

This is for people who wear Cochlear Implants (CI) and are struggling to afford to buy products related to their hearing device. What would be incredibly helpful is if the extra products on sale for our devices were at a much more affordable price, because to buy one small rechargeable battery for the price of $340 is absurd!

I am twenty years old, currently studying at Toi-Ohomai, and work two jobs, I still live with my family and money is not something we have, but we manage. Unfortunately the downside to wearing a CI is that batteries end up broken or worn out, and so I have to replace them, for $250 each and that was already hard enough.

Imagine my shock and frustration to when I find that it now costs $340 each.. It makes me want to cry and tear my head off, and quite frankly, it makes me wish I was dead, because I didn't ask to be deaf and so I don't understand why I need to pay big money for the sake of "normal" living.

All I ask is that you make the products much more affordable.

So that people of all age, whether you're five years old, thirteen, twenty or forty five years old, you are not being deprived of your right to live a lifestyle where you're not stressed about choosing between buying your new hearing products or your grocery, or your child's school uniform and costs, or whatever it may be.
