Legalizing Marijuana in Illinois

Decriminalizing and legalizing marijuana use in the state of Illinois should be something that takes place in the near future. Illegal buying and selling of pot brings many problems such as;
Overflows in the prison system- Arrests for Illegal selling and buying is causing the prison system to be bursting. If it were legal we could reduce arrests, as well as the overflow in the jail system
Troubles the black market brings due to illegal marijuana sales- If we keep marijuana illegal, the black market will continue to sell bad quality marijuana which can cause health problems due to the marijuana being laced. Overdosing from unknown substances hidden in the marijuana is highly likely. Legalizing will improve the quality and prevent fentanyl-laced deaths.
The arrests of youth for minor offences- Many young people often get caught up in the marijuana scene whether it being due to use of the drug, or being around those who do. Getting charged with something as little as marijuana can have a major impact on the rest of a person's life negatively.
It is important that we bring some type of awareness to the legalization process and help this law come to action.
