Many people have been affected by the stay-in-place order that Illinois has set. One major closing was the DMV and Secretary of State offices. These buildings see a large number of people each day. The closing of these offices has created a large backup of people needing DMV services. These services include; driving tests, real IDs, license plate renewals, driver license renewals, etc. Many teenagers have been affected by the DMV closing because they cannot get their driver's license.

In Georgia, they have implemented a new rule to help the backup of the DMV. They have set a new rule where teenagers could get their driver's licenses with parent approval online. The backup in Georgia was already 30,000 people wanting to get their license. The population of Illinois is greater than Georgia's proving the backup of Illinois would surpass that number.

If Illinois implemented this rule, this would not only help the teenagers who have missed the opportunity to get their license but also help the other people trying to get other DMV services. If teenagers are able to temporarily get their license online, this would decrease the number of people entering the DMV. It would then be easier and faster for people to get their services done without having to be interrupted by a large number of people getting their licenses.

Getting a driver's license may not seem like a necessity, but for teenagers, it is a very important moment in their young years. During this quarantine, I have found it very hard to get out of the house and get fresh air. If teenagers were able to get their licenses online, they would have new opportunities to let off steam and get fresh air. Rather than being locked in their house, they could still follow the social distancing rules in their cars alone.
