As just announced, IUP has decided to lower its tuition by almost 20% per semester or $1,854 starting Fall 2022 semester. As seniors graduating this Spring or Summer semester we don’t get this break in tuition costs although we endured moving completely online via zoom through covid which greatly impacted our quality of education. The measly $300 we were given as compensation for the hardships we endured through college during covid doesn’t even come close to the break in tuition costs students will start to receive after we have graduated. So my question is… where did all OUR money go? We paid the same price for remote/online education as we did for in person classes yet clubs, sports teams, and other extracurricular activities couldn’t meet so IUP buildings weren’t being run with electricity, water, and other utilities like they would have been normally. This petition is to get a reasonable refund for seniors since IUP has acknowledged the high tuition costs while ignoring that seniors have been through more then the rest of the student population. Seniors will become the next alumni of IUP, so why forget about what we’ve been through and more importantly give seniors some of their money back!
