Restart IUB Online Courses in Academic Year 2021-2022
At the end of this past spring semester, we were told that IU is going to resume classes in person. We understood that decision was well justified, because the vaccines were pretty effective, and the situation of COVID-19 was initially and effectively controlled.
However, the Delta variant of COVID-19 emerged in the end of July and its spread is more than 1000 times faster than before. It is known that the vaccines available on the market today are not very effective against mutated viruses. We know that wearing a mask is going to be optional on campus, which could be very dangerous. Moreover, lockdowns and the uncertainty of international traveling make it difficult for international students to enter the States successfully and safely. Even though we hope to have our campus life again, we believe health should always be the priority for students and the staff members. There are already American universities providing online options, such as New York University, Arizona State University, and etc. Considering the new situation we are facing, we ask the school to consider to offer the students the right to choose online learning again.
