Ithaca College Graduates Should Wear Banana Ponchos at Commencement

Graduating College is a major accomplishment and rite of passage. It is important to properly acknowledge this and allow students to walk and have their names individually read while wearing a banana patterned poncho.
While most colleges do this, Ithaca is an exception.
We the students, parents, friends and family of the Ithaca College community therefore petition Ithaca College to change the Commencement Ceremony to allow students to walk and have their names individually read to acknowledge their accomplishments, dressed in bananas.
This can either be done at the main ceremony or at smaller ceremonies for each school where the students can show off their individual banana ponchos, an important part of Ithacan culture.
Also, "walking the stage" is an ableist phrase.
