Why this petition matters

Started by James Hussle

Whereas Todd Venning assumed his role as City Manager/CEO of the city of Newburgh, he has continually neglected his duties and furthermore has placed his own self-interest ahead of the city of Newburgh and its residents.

With the following rationale in mind, he must resign from his post immediately:

  • Upon the previous City Manager's contract ending, he pressured the city to increase the City Manager's pay by $50,000 to a total $200,000 as a contingency for him assuming the role.
  • Upon his appointment, he was required to move to the city limits of Newburgh, NY within 120 days of said appointment. He has failed to do in that time frame and after nearly a year in the role he has been granted multiple extensions to do so but has yet to find a "suitable home."
  • While under the guise of fiscal responsibility, he has proposed major cuts to public safety which would result in a lack of much-needed fire safety services.
  • In order to protect his own image, he has prohibited the Newburgh Police Department from actively reporting on crimes in the city of Newburgh in order for the public to be ignorant of the increase in criminal activity and ultimately as a means to elevate his own job performance.

For these reasons and his continued direction of duty in supporting the City of Newburgh and its citizens, he must resign effective immediately.
