On March 8, 2022 the Florida State Senate adopted Florida House Bill CS/CS/HB 1557: Parental Rights in Education - widely known as Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill - in a majority vote 22-17.

On March 28, 2022 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) signed the bill into law.

On July 01, 2022 this bill will be made effective in Florida, whereby:

⛔ Students in K-3 are banned from learning about or discussing LGBTQ topics in school, specifically those related to gender identity and sexual orientation

⛔ Parents are given the right to sue school districts and teachers who do not comply with the ban

⛔ Schools are required to report students' use of mental health services to parents, including LGBTQ counseling
