All cats deserve to live in a loving home.  In the UK 3.4 million cats are abandoned every year!  Cat's should not be abandoned for any reason.  Even if you don't love them, or if they are ill or old, they should not be left to survive on their own.  Cat owners have a responsibility to find a new home or rescue centre if they are unable to look after their cat.  If people want a cat they should first investigate how to look after a cat and what is involved and go to a rescue centre first to see if they will match with a cat that is need of a new home.  I think all cat owners should have to sign a document to say they will not intentionally abandon their cat and will seek refuge at a cat adoption and rescue centre.
