We the residents of Brentwood, Central Islip and North Bay Shore have had enough! We are tired of the lack of representation by the Islip Town Board. The Town Board, Town of Islip Boards and Commissions and Town agencies DO NOT fairly reflect the constituency of Islip Town. We continue to receive inadequate representation, services and resources and we demand change NOW!

Most recently, we wish to express our dissatisfaction and opposition to the blatant disregard shown to the residents of the Brentwood, Central Islip and North Bay Shore communities, specifically by Councilwoman Trish Bergin-Weichbrodt as well as Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen and Councilman James P. O'Connor.

The decision to replace three Town of Islip Community Development Agency Board members (Renee Ortiz, Ramon Colon and Steve Raccuglia) via last minute resolution, with three individuals who do not make up a fair representation of the community at large, was an unethical and underhanded move on the part of these three Council members. They gave no consideration to the communities that are most impacted by the CDA's programs and services. Moreover, these individuals names and resumes were never submitted to the entire Town Board for appropriate vetting.

This political move was divisive and provides further evidence that these Town Board members have little or no regard for the entire community they are SUPPOSED TO SERVE. It is added salt on an already open wound that Councilwoman Bergin-Weichbrodt inflicted with her recent offensive comments and public commentary on social media which was regarded by many as racist, feeble minded and hateful.

We, the residents, are demanding an apology from these three Board Members for their blatant disregard for our community (specifically Ms. Bergin-Weichbrodt) and that these replacements be reconsidered. A more representative group of individual resumes must be submitted AND PROPERLY VETTED to be appointed to the CDA Board. Additionally, we want a comprehensive review of the composition of all Islip Boards and Commissions to ensure that we, the residents of Brentwood, Central Islip and North Bay Shore are fairly represented on all boards affecting them.
