Support the youth strike for climate in Islington
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
We the undersigned call on Islington Council to stand in solidarity with the young people participating in the next nationwide Youth Strike 4 Climate, and with all those taking a stand for the future of the planet.
The United Nations IPCC report published in 2018 made it clear that we only have 12 years left to limit global warming to a 1.5 degrees Celsius rise. If politicians fail to act to address this climate emergency, young people will bear the brunt of the catastrophic consequences.
Children and students are not taking the decision to miss school lightly. They are standing up for the future of the planet and gaining important and valuable experience from their citizens’ action and political participation.
We are asking Islington Council to issue a statement of support for students and parents taking part in the upcoming climate strike on 15 March 2019 and encourage schools to give leave to those participating in the strike.
