ICPC Boys Youth started this petition to Islamic Center of Passaic County

The kid who changed your kid’s life: At the Islamic Center of Passaic County, a basketball court used to attract youth from all over New Jersey. At the age of 14, one youth and his group of friends would spend all of Saturday, every Saturday playing basketball there. When the athan was called, he would leave the courts to go get food so that the adults wouldn’t tell him to pray because the only reason he came to the Masjid was to play basketball. But as he grew older, he began coming to the masjid not only for basketball, but to benefit from prayer and the halaqas provided. By the age of 17, he went to the masjid to grow spiritually, and from time to time, play basketball. Over the years, he realized that he has the power to impact other kids, and decided to drop his basketball and volunteers for the Youth Department. Today, this brother is 21 years old who has served over 3 years with the Youth and even longer with the Juniors.  Where would this brother be if he never came to the Masjid at the age of 14?

Brothers and sisters in Islam, a basketball court is more than just a place to play. It is a way to bring our youth to the masjid and by the guidance of Allah, to prayer. Our kids are currently playing basketball in areas where they can be introduced to drugs, alcohol, gangs and haram relationships. It is our role as parents and leaders to protect our kids and increase their love for the masjid.
They are an amanah on us. Sign this petition today!
