Why this petition matters

Started by Joey’s Voice

The Irving Police Department has failed to respond to requests for police records pertaining to their response to requests for wellness checks at the home of Billy Hickman during the week of October 12, 2020. The online form the police directed us to went without a single response within the 10 business days noted on the form. (The requests were made that same week). A certified letter in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act was sent as request for the same records. The Freedom of Information Act requires that the requested information be released within 10 days or a response given explaining delay or denial to release. Signature confirmed. 10 days passed week of 11.23.20. No response. Please sign this petition for presentation to authorities who have the ability to release records. We know this won’t bring Billy back. Having the information will help us to be aware of change in policy and support needed for the police department to prevent others from losing loved ones by suicide with police awareness.
