Irvine’s reputation for excellent planning, outstanding schools, and wise land-use decisions is about to be tested. Here’s the question: Should Irvine’s next high school — to be built in the northern part of our City — be located on a site just 1000 yards from the proposed James A. Musick mega-jail, and three miles from where most of its students live? Or should the new high school be located in the Western Sector of the Great Park, close to where students already live, and where joint-use sports facilities could benefit our entire City?
As Irvine citizens, we formed Irvine for Great Park High to support the plan offered by Councilmember Larry Agran, who, for two years, has been urging relocating Irvine's proposed new high school from the Musick Jail site (Site A) to the Great Park (Site B). The Agran proposal is described in greater detail at IrvineMatters.com. Visit Irvine Matters (http://www.irvinematters.com/) and also sign up for their weekly update.
