Ireland needs a nationwide modern railway system immediately, to link the island as a whole. This would provide the ability to live in the west and commute to work in the east (or vice versa). This would open up the opertunity to live anywhere in Ireland regardless of the location of industry, but this would also provide the options for major industries to located outside of Dublin. Imagine traveling from Galway to Dublin in 90minutes or less. Imagine the impact this would have on an increasingly disastrous housing market, not having to rent extortionate fees for a substandard apartment just to live within commuting distance of your job.  Imagine what a clean energy transport system would do for Irish lives and a tourism industry. With the recent announcement of the Dublin Airport Metro link, costing at least 9billion over at least a 12 year period it is clear how backward Irish rail is and will continue to be. Ireland deserves the same rail infrastructure as German, as Switzerland, as all of mainland Europe. It could be the key to solving an array of issues like our housing market while providing new opportunities for all residents of this wonderful island. Let’s us make our voices heard and demand the government put a plan in place for a complete Irish Rail Overhaul to align us with our European neighbours.
