Niamh Donnelly started this petition to Irish Government

Schools need to stay open for children of frontline workers . Frontline workers in many areas have not stopped working since March. Many have used up excessive amounts of annual leave to be at home with their children due to having no other options. Others have taken unpaid leave or have paid massive amounts of money in childcare. Others have simply left them alone with older siblings, who in a non-covid world would never be left with such responsibility. In most of these cases parental assistance with homeschooling has not been an option. Frontline parents are worn out juggling work and childcare and simply do not have the time to homeschool when they come home from work. There are many many households where both parents are frontline workers, and many others where single frontline parents are doing it all alone. The Irish government should do the right thing and keep the schools open for children of frontline workers.
