Keep Retro Drive In Movies Open

Keep Retro Drive In Movies Open
Why this petition matters

We have just been informed by the Gardai that Drive-in Movies are in breach of Covid-19 legislation and after 3 weeks reopened, we must close with immediate effect.
Back in 2020, we fought hard to have Drive-in Movies listed in the legislation allowing us to reopen and to differentiate us from indoor cinemas, after meeting with Gardai and elected officials, we were successful.
We have always been 100% compliant with Covid-19 restrictions and have run countless safe screenings giving families an outlet from the safety and comfort of their car.
During Level 5 restrictions we closed and gave €75,000 in refunds to our customers - we accepted this.
For the first 4 months of 2021, we remained closed - we accepted this.
We reopened on April 29th, the same day as Dublin Zoo and lots of other outdoor amenities.
We were told that this Summer was to be an Outdoor Summer, We invested heavily and our staff returned to work.
We gave free tickets to lots of local organisations and everyone had a ball.
All non-essential retail has since reopened, we can travel throughout the Country in our cars, museums, galleries & libraries are open but for some unknown reason, that will not be disclosed to us, we have to close.
Despite multiple communications to The Minister for Health who signs off on the legislation and is in the Wicklow constituency, our pleas have been ignored.
Our customers have always been so supportive and now we really need your help, please share this and feel free to email your local representative and ask them why Drive-in Movies are now suddenly unsafe and not permitted.
We are due to be back open on Thursday night with screenings planned all weekend, we don't want to disappoint hundreds of people again so we have 2 days to make a difference.
All we want to do is operate the business that we have built from scratch!
