It is absolutely essential that we improve our air quality, prevention of idling is a simple effort that will yield high results if the public engage. I’m sure they will when they become aware of the consequences of engine idling.

It is damaging to air quality to leave a vehicle idling and in terms of fuel costs it makes sense for the owner not to burn fuel unnecessarily, so even if you don't care about carbon emissions, climate change and environmental damage why spend more than you have to?

Air pollution kills. Both carbon, nitrogen compounds and particulate matter. Ban idling & limit max speed to 80 kph max (possible exception of motorways). This is the quick win we need to have made a huge start on our responsibilities to our environment this Spring. Tús maith, leath na hOibre!
