Change the adoption policy on bully breed dogs.
Iredell County currently does not allow 'pit bull' breeds to be adopted what is a 'pit bull' is determined by the Animal Services staff. This policy does not take into account the dog's temperament, disposition, or age. Any dog that is thought to be a 'pit bull' or a mix that may have some 'pit bull' in them is held for a short time and then put down. Although all dogs are not automatically suitable for adoption it is because of their temperament not breed. This is a policy that needs to be changed for the benefit of both the community and dogs. Thank you and please feel free to contact all the commissioners and Animal Services directly, their information can be found on the Iredell County Government website.
