end gender based discrimination in higher education
Women for centuries have been denied basic rights, and education was one of them. But with great strides we have moved away from those restrictions and women now have the right to vote, hold office, but most importantly they have access to higher education. Now the Iranian government is planning on taking that away for the women of their country, they are banning women from studying certain fields in institutions of higher education. Some of the subjects being, English literature, English translation, hotel management, archaeology, nuclear physics, computer science, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and business management (Source).
Please help me by signing this petition and notifying the Iranian government and other governmental bodies/agencies, and politicians, that it is unfair and unjust, for the Iranian government to allow gender based discrimination in their institutions of higher education.
Knowledge is power, and by continuing this dreadful policy, the Iranian government is showing exactly how much they care about the women and girls of their country, which is not much. With knowledge comes empowerment and a better life not only for women but also for the communities in which they live in.
By denying education to women the Iranian government is putting the next generation of girls to be more at risk to take jobs that are less desirable, but most importantly more women will most likely turn to prostituting as a source of income. Don't let this be the future of Iran. Allow women have access to higher education today, tomorrow, forever.
