IPSWICH, MA RESIDENTS ONLY SHOULD SIGN THIS PETITION

Summary

On June 7th, 2022 the residential property located on 236 High Street, Ipswich MA was sold. The new owner, Maggie Hackett, a dog trainer has applied to the zoning board of appeals (ZBA) to open a commercial dog kennel and training center on High Street. Residents of Ipswich, MA are opposed to this.

Notification of Abutters
Maggie Hackett requests a special permit and/or variance pursuant to, but not necessarily limited to sections XI.J - XI.K, seeking approval for a Commercial Use as established in V.D. Table of Use Regulations to operate a kennel and associated use to include, but not limited to for training, breeding, boarding and some of which may be rescue dogs.

--------

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, HEREBY PETITION the Zoning Board of Appeals to REJECT the special permit and/or variance pursuant to, but not necessarily limited to sections XI.J - XI.K, seeking approval for a Commercial Use as established in V.D. Table of Use Regulations to operate a kennel and associated use to include, but not limited to for training, breeding, boarding and some of which may be rescue dogs.

WE STATE OR BELIEVE:

  1. That the petitioners are residents of Ipswich, MA. Most being abutters or close residents to the property
  2. In ordinance of bylaw footnote 2 - the lot would need 5 acres of more to run a kennel.
  3. The close proximity, within 150ft, of the kennel to other dwellings.
  4. The property resides in a Rural Residential A Zoning, as well as, the Water Supply Protection District
  5. That a kennel at the property, will change the characteristics of the neighborhood, harm wetlands and water supply, and be a noise/smell nuisance to our neighborhood and town.
  6. Traffic will be an issue on an already busy road and narrow property lot.
