'Yes' for a Springfield Library - Have Your Say

A community is more than buildings and roads, bricks and mortar.
A community is built through the connections we make when we come together to create something greater than ourselves.
What better issue to bring the community together, than the proposals for the new Springfield Library.
Libraries have changed and grown, but at the heart, a library is a place where every member of the community, regardless of income, age, or education, can access a world of knowledge, pursue lifelong learning, share resources and technology, and for community groups and innovators to meet and discuss ideas to improve our region.

A library is more than just a repository of books, it reflects the hopes and vision of the community.
This week, Ipswich City Council will be voting on a proposal to establish a temporary Library facility in the Orion Shopping Centre.  This temporary facility replaces the original proposal for a larger facility to be built on the designated community infrastructure space between Robelle Domain and the Orion Shopping Centre.  A temporary facility is more affordable, but expenditure now could impact the timeframe for a more iconic community space.

This is a decision that should involve the community, we should all have a chance to have our say in the development of our region.  We support the establishment of a local Springfield Community Library, and would like the community be directly involved in this decision, not only about where the Library should be built, but what resources, and services would best serve our community.

SMA QLD, and Steven Purcell invite all members of the community to have their say on this major community infrastructure project.
