Learning a secondary language has a plethora of benefits, whether it be increased neurological and problem-solving skills, heightened empathy, or a better chance in the job market. However, simply taking a secondary education class in high school is not enough for the average student to become fluent. Instead, these classes should be introduced to elementary schoolers. A student who begins training in another language by the age of 10 has a much better chance of becoming fluent in that language. Children are also more receptive to new languages and the idea of failure, which drives learning.
