Involuntary Rehab for Adults 18-21 years old
Why this petition matters
Fentanyl
The state of Arizona has very limited resources when it comes to people who suffering from substance abuse. My family has experienced the little to no support from this state; my daughter is now 19yr old and been struggling to stay off drugs since she was 17. My daughter was diagnosed with bipolar, ODD, and substance abuse. March of 2021 I found out she was using meth, by my other daughter who was 15years old at the time came to me stating that her sister offered her drugs. I immediately confronted my daughter, I had to pin my daughter down and take drugs away that same day I got her admitted to Banner hospital. They then evaluated her to only discharge due to she was not in a state to harm herself or others. A drug test was taking while in the ER and she had meth, fentanyl, and cocaine in her system
I struggled trying to get her to see that she is suffering addiction but she is in denial. For several months we continued down the same path back and forth to hospitals for mental crisis and substances. It was always the same thing same day or after 24hrs they will withdrawal her stating that she has detox from the drugs and she is not harm to others or herself. No mother wants to see their child losing weight, not eating, don't speak to your child for weeks, wondering if one day you will get that call, not seeing you child for several months and knowing any day, your child can die.
I can understand when a child turns 18 they are considered an adult by age but I disagree some young adults are still mentally a child including my own and can’t make her own decisions. There should be some changes to where we can petition someone Involuntary Rehab someone under age of 21 who suffering with drug addiction.
