Criminal activity thrives on church communities because of the trusting environment. There are not many measures within congregations to protect individuals from becoming victims. 

Pedophiles thrive in trusting environments, especially if they are given access to family-oriented communities such as Sunday Schools. These people are usually very charming and get away with a lot because they psychologically brainwash the victim into thinking it is God's will for their life. For many, this circumstance is a reality.

Though the separation of church and state will most likely always be in place, churches have taken it upon themselves to PROTECT many criminals and suspicious persons because of their high rank in the religious world. The presence of religion and faith in these crimes greatly affects the victim. They begin to question their faith and the truth and the one thing that keeps them anchored begins to collapse. Do not let their hope leave them.

The investigation of churches in communities will allow for an accountability between church leaders and the state in order to ensure children and adults alike are receiving justice. Perpetrators should not be protected from their evil actions.
