ZONING LAWS ARE BEING SELECTIVELY ENFORCED.
Regulations in our Village's Zoning Code were enacted to protect our community's character, fairly reflect our collective values regarding the nature of development and land use, and promote quality of life. The Marine Recreation (MR) Zone was created to regulate development in waterfront areas. Principal uses in the MR Zone are LIMITED to recreational facilities of NON-PROFIT membership clubs. COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES ARE NOT PERMITTED.
There is significant evidence that Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club and Hampshire Country Club have been operating FOR PROFIT, COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES on their properties, which is in direct violation of usage regulations in the MR Zone.
It is vital that Village zoning laws are enforced.
A lack of enforcement has resulted in an inordinate amount of bus and commercial truck and event traffic, increasing the potential danger to pedestrians, compromising neighborhood safety and negatively impacting the surrounding residential areas.
